Our vision at Bradbury Preschool demonstrates that we are committed to achieving a reconciled Australia; to create a community that embraces respectful relationships between non-Indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We endeavor to promote cultural integrity, acknowledgement of, engagement with, and ownership of our shared histories.
We are committed to achieving a community of respect and equality where the Traditional Custodians cultural practices are respectfully embedded and inter-woven into the Preschool program. We respect and acknowledge the unique spiritual connection that First Nations peoples have to the Land on which our Preschool is situated. This serves as a guide as we learn about connecting with Country from First Nations peoples with our children and families.
We are committed to gaining a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being. We endeavour to regularly reflect on and respectfully incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives whilst gaining continuous input from family and community members, to ensure our pedagogical practices are reflective and respectful in our teachings. We strive to ensure that all children and families feel a sense of belonging with a strong connection of community. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as with all children, are recognised and valued as the creators, thinkers, and activists of today and tomorrow. We will continue to develop genuine respectful and reciprocal relationships with First Nations Peoples, their families and communities. We commit to Bradbury Preschool being continually recognised and acknowledged as a safe space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, Elders and community members; where they are at liberty to be true to themselves and their beliefs, free from prejudice.
