VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our commitment to reconciliation, justice, and healing: 

We are committed to thinking more deeply about Australian Indigenous cultures and are open to learning more about this together as a group. Our vision for reconciliation starts with acknowledging the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in all educators philosophy and practice is a key driving tool to advocate and advance Reconciliation. 

We are committed to respecting diversity, and as educators of early childhood in Australia this means that we have a responsibility to promote a greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being (EYLF p.13). Our shared obligation as educators is to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and fulfil every Australian childs right to know about Australias First Nations histories, knowledge systems, cultures, and languages, regardless of whether Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families are enrolled in our Service. 

We recognise the inequities and inequalities that exist and will move forward with an open mind and willingness to promote equal and equitable educational outcomes.  We aim to respectfully include the perspectives, histories and heritages of the Traditional Custodians of the Country we live on. We explore new and better ways to meet challenges within our community. We envision a reconciled Australia as one that rejoices in the successes and accomplishments of its culturally diverse population.
