At Goodstart Tiwi, we commit to reconciliation by paying our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the Land that we learn and play on. We commit to building and fostering meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities that is built on mutual respect, inclusiveness and trust. We commit to acknowledging the importance of reconciliation and the importance of National Reconciliation Week and to treat Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people with respect, dignity and respectfully share knowledge with the staff, children and families at Goodstart Tiwi We commit to engaging all staff, children, families and the wider community in meaningful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural activities. We aim to assist our learners to understand the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. We aim to set up areas within our service, consisting of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures that will help guide and support all other cultures within our service. We commit to taking an active stand against racism and to teach our children, educators and families at Goodstart Tiwi the importance of diversity and inclusivity within our Early Learning Centre
