Sandon Point Children's Centre

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Sandon Point Children's Centre would like to promote meaningful change towards the acceptance and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within our community. We aim to guide and support educators, children and their families to develop the ability to stand up and refute racism because in doing so they will be able to influence the attitudes of others. We will endeavour to dispel the damaging myths and stereotypes that have been historically attached to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through education, exposure to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures and embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our program and service culture. We aim to provide a service that is culturally safe and that teaches the true history of Australia and the devastating impacts that colonisation has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as the resilience shown by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the face of discrimination. We also want to see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people recognised within the constitution.
