Balgownie Early Learning Centre

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Balgownie Early Learning Centre we aim to resist the stereotyping of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and move beyond tokenistic acknowledgements of their importance to our society. We wish to build a better understanding within our community of the Anglo-colonisation of Australia and the devastating impact it has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations and cultures. We are committed to  creating equal and equitable opportunities between the centre, educators, children and families and the Dharawal community. We would like to promote our centre as a safe and welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by respectfully incorporating their perspectives into our programming along with promoting diversity and the acceptance of all cultures.
