Point Street Early Learning Centre will continue to promote meaningful change towards understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures within our community. We are committed to guiding and supporting educators, children and their families to develop the ability to stand up and refute racism because, in doing so, they will be able to positively influence the attitudes and actions of others. Through education, we will dispel damaging myths and stereotypes that have been historically attached to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and will ensure respectful engagement with and embedment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives in our program and service culture.
We will continue to work towards providing a service that is culturally safe and that teaches the true histories of Australia, including both the devastating impacts that colonisation has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as the strength and resilience shown by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the face of discrimination. We will also advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be recognised within the Constitution.
