St. Brendan's Primary School Vision for Reconciliation is for all students, staff and families to understand and actively engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives, histories and cultures at a local and National level. St. Brendan's Community recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and acknowledges past injustices that continue to give rise to present inequalities and inequities. We also recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing process which involves acknowledgement, justice, respect, recognition and healing. It is about helping all Australians to move forward with a better understanding of the true histories of this country and how the past affects the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. Our Core School Community Values of Belonging, Diversity, Excellence and Relationships underpin our education and social practices as we address the concepts central to what reconciliation means at St. Brendan's School Campus. We provide opportunities in this environment and supportive structures that provide equal and equitable learning outcomes and encourage all students to acknowledge the continuing richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and heritages. We will achieve our vision for reconciliation as we develop and maintain respectful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, actively valuing and acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures and histories, respectfully participating in reconciliation in education and meaningfully integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives across all learning areas and in cross-curricular units of work. This includes respect, relationships and opportunities in the classroom, around the school and in Community with Students, Staff, Parents, Carers and extended Community who are all engaged in the RAP.
