At Woosh, it is important to us that we strive towards strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres strait islander Peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. To create a united, equal, equitable and respectful future in our service, our school community and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, we need to acknowledge the past and increase our knowledge of the rich and diverse cultures of First Nations Peoples. To help facilitate this, we are actively paying respect to First Nations community members in our daily practices and routines and providing educators, children and young people with opportunities to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ histories, cultures, art and languages. We hope to enhance our educators, children and young people's understanding of the challenges First Nations Peoples continue to endure, since colonisation and to bring about a greater understanding on the importance of reconciliation for the good of all peoples. With acceptance, tolerance and positive cultural attitudes we can begin to move forward in our efforts as a service towards reconciliation.
