VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Nido Early School Blakeview, we strive to create a welcoming, inclusive and culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We want all families, children, and visitors to have a sense of belonging when they enter our service. We believe that creating environments, programs and practices that respectfully teach about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s histories and cultures is a vital part of our on-going learning and practice, and that doing so expands our knowledge as a centre while deepening our relationships with the wider Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander community.

Our vision for reconciliation is for our service, our families, our community, and our children to work together to drive reconciliation. We recognise  the diverse and dynamic nature of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and histories and acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ deep connections with lands, waters, and communities. Our vision is that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ cultures will be valued, respected and affirmed across all areas of society and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and all children, have the equal and equitable opportunities to exercise choices about the way in which they lead meaningful, healthy lives, including those which sustain their cultures.
