Our vision for reconciliation is to continue to appreciate and embed diverse teaching practices into our service which in turn will impact our early learners’ hearts, minds and actions. We will continue to respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives which are explicit throughout the EYLF including the vision, principles, practices and outcomes. Our vision for reconciliation is based on five dimensions of reconciliation: race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity, unity and historical acceptance. We support reconciliation by learning about significant events in reconciliation and acknowledging Traditional Owners as we deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples were the first sovereign nations of the Australian continent and its adjacent islands and possessed it under their own laws and customs. We will walk on the reconciliation journey with the Australian people for a better future based on justice and self-determination for First Nations peoples. We will participate in the process of agreement making between governments and First Nations peoples, including engaging in truth telling about Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait islander peoples histories.
