We continue acknowledging and paying respect to the past, present and future Custodians and Elders of Lutruwita (Tasmania), the Palawa people and the Muwinina people as Original Owners of the Land of Nipaluna where our centre was built.
We recognise that we all stand on sacred ground and we, as an early year learning centre, commit to working towards becoming a safe place where all families, community members and educators can feel safe, celebrated and connected and can come together to learn, respect and celebrate First Nations Islander peoples, cultures and contributions.
We acknowledge that the Palawa people have a unique place in Tasmania’s historical, cultural, spiritual and linguistic identity that needs to be recognised and understood. We aspire to guide our families, staff members and community on a positive path of acknowledgment, respect, reconciliation and unity.
We support our families, children and educators to continue to learn and acknowledge Tasmania’s shared history by creating a deep connection with the Palawa community.
We commit to welcome Palawa Elders and community members within our centre, so that the voice of the Palawa people, their stories, cultural practices and histories can be included, respected, remembered, celebrated and passed on to the next generations.
We strive for healing colonial wrongs and strengthening the bond between First Nations peoples and the wider Australian community and we want to be part of a change that involves not only our educational service, but reflects also on the wider community.Cultural Responsiveness for Staff
