Fairymount Preschool's shared vision for reconciliation is strengthened by educators taking time and space to connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures and how these influence responses to First Nations ways of knowing, being and doing.
Sustained connections will grow by participating in local events and advisory groups in community, developing culturally responsive practices, participating in professional learning opportunities and exploring relational approaches to inclusivity and wellbeing.
The children will connect with and explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community's perspectives as they are respectfully embedded in daily routine, holistic approaches to curriculum and First Nations pedagogies.
Children's curiosity in, expression of and enthusiasm for First Nations knowledges will be nurtured by educators in reciprocal collaboration with local Gullibul community creating a shared meaning of balanced unity.
Together, we look toward cultivating momentum in proactively shifting colonisation mindsets for the empowerment of future generations.
Families and community members are welcomed and encouraged to contribute ideas and actions through engagement with the Reconciliation Action Plan.
Fairymount Preschool commits to partnership with community, schools and networking groups in culturally responsive ways.
Perspectives on Bundjalung culture, language and Country are driven by the self determination of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at Fairymount Preschool and in the community.
We commit to openly communicating the path of the reconciliation journey as positive progression that is celebrated in the Preschool and wider local community.
