At ECTARC Short Street, our vision for reconciliation is grounded in the active acknowledgement of, and partnerships with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, community members, children, and families.
We respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' perspectives, knowledges, and contributions to society, education, and care. We are committed to learning from one another through trusting, inclusive, and reciprocal partnerships, and to acknowledging local Aboriginal Elders and the Wodi Wodi People of the Five Islands Dreaming as the Custodians of the Dharawal Land on which we live, learn, and grow.
We are committed to deepening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's histories, perspectives, and approaches, and to respectfully embedding this knowledge into everyday practice and curriculum planning.
Furthermore, we are committed to strengthening children's understanding of their role in creating a better future by becoming active participants and advocates for reconciliation within their communities.
Through respectful truth-telling, acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and engaging with our shared histories, we will remember the past and work towards a present of continued healing and recognition, while building a shared national story and identity and striving for a connected, peaceful, equal, and equitable future for all.
