VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At ECTARC Short Street, our vision for reconciliation is to acknowledge and work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, community members, children, and families while we grow and learn together. We value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives, knowledge and contributions to society and towards education and care.  We are committed to respectfully learning from each other through trusting, inclusive and reciprocal partnerships while acknowledging local Aboriginal Elders and Dharawal community members as the true Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn, and grow.  We are committed to deepening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, perspectives and approaches whilst respectfully embedding this knowledge into everyday practice and curriculum planning. Furthermore, we commit to strengthening children’s understanding of their role in creating a better future by becoming active participants and advocates for reconciliation in their communities. Through respectful Truth-telling, valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and engaging with shared histories, we will remember the past, work towards a present of continued healing and recognition while building a shared national story and identity and achieving a connected, peaceful, equal and equitable future for all.
