Wahroonga After School Care Centre acknowledges and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations peoples of Australia.
Our vision for reconciliation is a service where all children, educators, families and the wider community demonstrate respect for, and actively learn about the values, perspectives, experiences and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are committed to providing a culturally safe and inclusive environment that supports meaningful learning opportunities for children, staff, families and the wider community to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' ways of knowing, being and doing.
Wahroonga After School Care Centre will build and sustain respectful, two-way relationships with the local First Nations community, strengthening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, perspectives, and practices of caring for Country and living in harmony with the environment.
We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing and multi-dimensional process. Guided by the five interrelated dimensions of reconciliation, we are committed to embedding First Nations stories, perspectives and experiences across our service.
Through this ongoing practice, we will create rich learning opportunities that honour the importance of shared national history, identity and storytelling for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
