Woodburn –Evans Head Preschool has a vision to actively promote reconciliation through:
- Providing a rich, holistic, inclusive, culturally safe environment. Our early education program intentionally teaches respect for the Bandjalang people and Country upon which we work and play by building respectful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.
- We advocate for the positive wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, children and their families, by ensuring our environments foster identity and belonging, while promoting authentic opportunities to contribute to and influence preschool policy and practice.
- We believe that high expectations are vital to supporting non-Indigenous educators to view ourselves as being reconciliation champions. We will continue to ensure there are opportunities to build authentic and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within our community. We believe in driving personal cultural development and being proactive in learning, unlearning and relearning about our shared history and the ongoing impacts of colonisation. We continue to support healing between First Nations peoples and our preschool community, celebrating difference, intentionally catering for variety of learning styles as ways of promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' perspectives.
