Our vision at Lady Gowrie Collingwood Park Community Kindergarten is that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this country are recognised for their enduring cultures. Our road to reconciliation has taken us on a journey of deep internal reflection through engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and perspectives. It has given us the strength to advocate for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, rights, and cultural safety.
We continue to build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and the broader community to strengthen our knowledge and understanding of First Nations peoples’ histories and cultures. This will enable us to create culturally safe environments and include activities into the program that reflect and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. We also believe that we need to ensure our Kindergarten is accessible and inclusive with a feeling of connectedness towards First Nations People and valuing, engaging with and learning about their cultures and histories.
