Labrador Playschool Early Learning Centre is committed to fostering reconciliation and building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians. As an early childhood education service, we recognise the important role we play in supporting children, families, and educators to develop understanding, respect, and appreciation for the histories, cultures, and contributions of Australias First Nations peoples. Our centre is located on the traditional lands of the Kombumerri People of the Yugambeh Language Region. We acknowledge the Kombumerri People as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, learn, and play. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our community. We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have cared for this land for over 65,000 years and maintain a deep and ongoing connection to Country, culture, and community. At Labrador Playschool, we are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within our everyday practices, programs, and learning environments. Through play-based learning, storytelling, art, music, and connection with nature, we aim to support children in developing respect for the land and an appreciation for the diversity of cultures that exist across Australia. We value the voices, knowledge, and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families as important members of our community. We strive to create a culturally safe and inclusive environment that supports the identity, well-being, and belonging of all children. Through ongoing reflection, professional learning, and community partnerships, Labrador Playschool aims to promote equity, inclusion, and respect while continuing our journey towards reconciliation.
