At Carina Heights Child Care & Development, we acknowledge and pay our deep respects to the Traditional Custodians of the Land, the Yuggera Peoples, and recognise their continuing connections to land, waters, and community. We honour Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our vision for reconciliation is to continue to build, extend, and deepen respectful, reciprocal, and genuine relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. We are committed to walking alongside the local community, listening, learning, and responding in ways guided by respect, cultural safety, and shared understanding. As a community of children, families, and educators, we continue strengthening our collective knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, histories, and perspectives. We recognise reconciliation as an ongoing journey and commit to reflecting, challenging our thinking, and growing together with openness and humility. We commit to continuing to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in meaningful and authentic ways across all aspects of our service, including daily practices, environments, relationships, and learning programs. We will continue to build educator capacity through mentoring, professional learning, and regular Yarning opportunities, recognising that each educator is at a different stage of their journey. We empower children, educators and families as active participants in reconciliation, nurturing their respect for and curiosity about Traditional Custodians connections to Country, culture, and community.
