At Florence Community Kindy, we believe in developing meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, families, children and wider community.
We want our Kindergarten and community to be a place of equity, equality, dignity, respect and for everyone to feel involved and included. As early childhood educators, we believe that we have an important responsibility and role to play in the reconciliation process where children in our care gain knowledge, understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s histories and perspectives, which they take with them and build upon as they continue their education journey and everyday life with family and friends.
This Land on which we are all lucky enough to call home has been cared for and continues to be cared for by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for many generations and as such, we need to recognise, show respect for, listen to and be guided by Australia's First Peoples, now and into the future and always care for Country.
