Methodist Ladies Colleges vision for reconciliation is grounded in a continual cycle of reviewing, reflecting and responding as we deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, perspectives and cultures. We are committed to listening with respect, learning with humility, and walking together as our community strives toward meaningful reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. Guided by local Whadjuk Nyoongar Elders, we continually review and reflect on our language, culture and teaching practices to ensure they remain authentic, accurate and culturally informed. Through this ongoing collaboration, we create and maintian a school environment that is responsive, welcoming and culturally safe for all students, staff and visitors. We actively respond to our reconciliation commitments by seeking opportunities to honour First Peoples knowledge, histories and contributions within the life of the College. Our community engages with local stories, respectfully incorporates Nyoongar language and place names, and upholds our responsibility to truth telling and justice. By embracing this ongoing journey, we strengthen our connection with local First Peoples and enrich the shared experience of the entire MLC community.
