Evans Head-Woodburn Preschool

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION
Evans Head Preschool has a vision for all Aboriginal Children and Torres Strait Islander children to: have a culturally safe preschool program; to develop a sense of identity; to develop a sense of belonging to community; to be positively represented in our wider community; and to have access to a culturally safe and inclusive preschool program supported by An Aboriginal Cultural Advisor. For families of Aboriginal children: to be given meaningful opportunities to engage with and collaborate with the preschool in an authentic manner; to have input into the managerial and curriculum decisions made within in the preschool. To feel valued and their culture represented. For Non Indigenous Preschool Educators to develop a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal families; to understand Aboriginal children's learning styles; to become culturally aware; to develop an understanding of issues relating to colonisation and how this effects the Aboriginal Community; to develop and understanding of intergenerational trauma and how to promote healing.
