Our vision for reconciliation is to be a community in which there is mutual respect and deep solidarity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those with differing heritages; a community committed to acknowledging the hurts and wrongs of the past and being present in a spirit of mercy, love, justice, forgiveness and peace.
Villanova College affirms its commitment to reconciliation and recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia, with unique cultural and spiritual relationships with the Land and Sea.
The College will embrace the Augustinian Gateway Values of INTEGRITY, SEARCH FOR TRUTH, HUMILITY and COMMUNITY to walk beside First Nations peoples and drive reconciliation within the College and wider community. It will aim to foster positive reciprocal relationships with First Nations peoples and strive to enhance the bonds between local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations with our learning community.
As a College that espouses the values and charism of St Augustine, Villanova embraces respect for the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, inclusivity and action against inequality and inequity and reconciliation between non-Indigenous peoples and First Nations peoples in our pedagogical and community frameworks.
