Deep Creek Preschool's vision for reconciliation is to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where all children, families, and staff feel respected, valued, and connected. We acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonialism on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and recognise the importance of acknowledging and learning from the past to create a better future for all.
Acknowledgment and Respect: We will acknowledge and respect the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate and the diverse cultures and perspectives of our community.
Education and Awareness: We will provide education and awareness to our staff, families, and children about the histories, cultures, and ongoing impacts of colonialism and the importance of reconciliation.
Building Relationships: We will build respectful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including seeking their input and involvement in our programs and activities.
Inclusive Curriculum: We will ensure our curriculum embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's histories, perspectives and cultures.
Employment and Training: We will provide employment and training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and create a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
Continuous Improvement: We will regularly review and evaluate our reconciliation action plan to ensure we are making progress towards our vision for reconciliation and meeting the needs of our community.
Through these actions, Deep Creek Preschool aims to contribute to a reconciled Australia, where all children have the opportunity to grow and learn in a safe and inclusive environment.
