At Busy Bees at Craigieburn, we are dedicated to learning about, and acknowledging, the past injustices and the continuing inequalities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to reconciliation and ecognize that early education is crucial to a reconciled nation, as we work towards embedding cultural responsiveness in all aspects of our centre.
We strive to further our own knowledge, educate children, and provide a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all. Reconciliation to us means developing strong relationships between our broader community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
As educators, we recognise the crucial role we play in guiding future generations. We aspire to do this by supporting our centre and community to develop an understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, perspectives, histories, and present contributions. We are committed to ensuring that we teach about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures with accurate information and in a respectful way. We will share our knowledge of what we are currently learning about and our commitment towards reconciliation with staff, families, children, and the community in visible, respectful ways.
