Our vision for reconciliation is to build strong, respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other non-Indigenous Australians by creating a community that values the cultural heritages, diversity and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe that quality early education is key to building a reconciled nation for the benefit of current and future generations. All children must learn about and engage with the histories and cultures of Australia’s First Nations peoples and have a sense of belonging and connection to our place.
Our educators have a role to play in providing a culturally safe environment and a genuine commitment towards respect, support, development and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, their families and the community. We have a responsibility to continue extending our knowledge and understanding of Australia’s First Nations peoples. We will continue to undertake this through respectful consultation with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and embed this into our everyday practices and pedagogical program.
