At Victor Harbor Community Kindergarten our vision for reconciliation is to genuinely show respect for and acknowledge the cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples. We will continue to acknowledge within our kindergarten community, the unique and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples and the significance of what it means for them to have the oldest continuing cultures in the world. In particular, we wish to strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities in our preschool with the Ramindjeri and Ngarindjeri People who are the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our kindergarten stands. Our vision is to build stronger connections with the local Ngarrindjeri and Ramindjerri People in our community in order to learn about their history, culture, language and deep connection to County.
Our vision is to embed reconciliation actions into our everyday practice so that all staff, children and families of our kindergarten community gain a greater knowledge of, respect for and understanding of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples across our nation. Connection to Land and appreciation for it, is embedded in the culture of all First Nations people and we hope to develop this feeling of connection and care for land within our kindergarten community.
We at Victor Harbor Community Kindergarten share the vision that our Reconciliation Action Plan shows our commitment to engaging with our children, families and the local community in acknowledging, recognising and respecting the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people as part of Australia's national story and identity.
