At Galaxy Outside School Hours, we believe reconciliation is about building respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We aim to provide an environment that reflects the lives of the children and families using the service and the cultural diversity of the broader community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations peoples and aim to promote positive educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout the community.
Our reconciliation vision is to respectfully embed and buildpractices that strengthen children’s connection and understanding of community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, learning to value, celebrate and promote the cultural richness of First Nation Peoples.
Our RAP will be a living document like our QIP, which will adapt, change, and grow as we execute our actions and build on our strategies within our service and ensure universal access to a range of school age care programs for all children that attend. We expect our RAP will be used to guide staff on how we can develop mutually respectful relationships, cultural sensitivity and respect based on appreciation and improved engagement and partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and our Inclusion Support agencies.
