VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is for all First Nations peoples and non-Indigenous people within Australia to live peacefully, in harmony and with respect and to recognise the true histories of the place our service is located. We will continue to work towards creating a service that values the cultural diversity of the First Peoples of Australia and will continue to learn about how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being, which will continue to inform our reconciliation journey.

We commit to respectfully integrating and meaningfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our pedagogical practice to create a culturally safe and responsive space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and everyone within our community.

We commit to continuing to advocate for reconciliation within our service and local community to build respect, equity and equality, and to strengthen and maintain partnerships with Traditional Custodians. We believe this will ensure we remain a catalyst for how we and others continue to engage in unlearning and relearning the truths about our shared histories, including First Nations peoples across Australia, and, more specifically, Tasmania's palawa people.

Reconciliation is a positive construct that emerges from cultural understanding, acceptance and ultimately respect, which will be continuously reflected upon by our learning community. Through establishing and maintaining partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local community, we will ensure there are opportunities for learning to ensure First Nations perspectives and voices are meaningfully reflected within our curriculum, our learning environments and at the organisational level through our philosophy, policies, documentation, communication and institutional and political engagement.
