VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is to ensure that all educators, children, and families, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to feel respected, valued, and culturally safe within our service. We are committed to strengthening inclusive environments that nurture belonging and wellbeing, while further embedding culturally responsive practices into everyday learning experiences.

At Balaclava Road Childrens Centre, we proudly uphold the rights of all children and families, particularly those recognised in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. We are dedicated to ongoing learning respectfully about the rich histories, cultures, and ongoing contributions of the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and learn.

We are committed to advancing reconciliation through deepening intercultural understanding, strengthening cultural capability, and continuing to build authentic, respectful, and reciprocal relationships between First Nations peoples and the wider community. We acknowledge the importance of leadership, collaboration, and partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, families, and communities in fostering cultural awareness and embedding meaningful learning with care and respect.

We honour the contributions of past and present educators who have guided and supported our journey towards greater cultural responsiveness within the centre. Their commitment and knowledge are deeply valued. As we move forward, we will continue to strengthen  maintain relationships with key stakeholders and create ongoing opportunities to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, organisations, and communities through our daily practices and programs
