At Burleigh Heads Community Kindy, our vision for reconciliation is to foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that is free from racism and discrimination. We honour and celebrate the cultures, histories, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We are committed to building respectful and meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, particularly the Kombumerri People of the Yugambeh language region. These relationships are grounded in mutual respect and a shared commitment to reconciliation. We stand together as a community to recognise and learn from the worlds oldest continuous culture. Through our Kindy programs and community connections, we aim to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and experiences. By embedding First Nations histories and cultures into our everyday practice, we seek to raise awareness and strengthen cultural knowledge. In doing so, we honour the Kombumerri People and the Yugambeh language, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across the nation. We acknowledge the injustices of the past and remain committed to working towards a future of equality, equity, and shared respect.
