At Heritage Preschool we value the rich history and ongoing understandings that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have about the Land that we live work and play on. We acknowledge that the Land that we live on is, and always will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples Land. We respect the caretakers of this Land and we seek to understand the rich history dating back millions of years from the Traditional Owners, the oldest living culture in the world. We actively engage and reflect on Australia’s true history and seek to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, histories and stories. We will acknowledge the Traditional Owners each day and seek not be tokenistic but respectful when embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures into our everyday learnings . We will ensure that everything we are teaching comes from working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and is a true reflection of their culture. We will create an environment that fosters great respects and appreciation of the histories, cultures and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As our community learns more about the rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, we seek to ensure that the children we teach know and understand the importance of how privileged we are to live in a country with such rich and unique cultures.
