Our vision is to maintain a culture of respect and acknowledge the unique connections that the Bunurong people have to this Land. We acknowledge that our centre has been established within the Kulin Nation and will share this understanding with children families and educators who are part of this early learning space. We will continue building genuine, respectful relationships with all children, families and educators and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are accepting of cultures, differences and the unique strengths that we all bring to this space. Values: Dandenong Day Nursery values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures and the contribution that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities can make to our centre and wider community. Our Commitment: •To gain a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ways of knowing and learning. •Respectfully sharing that knowledge at all levels of the service and within each learning space. •Respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives in all educators' philosophy and practice. •We will continue to network with our Koorie Engagement Officer to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ knowledge and perspectives in our philosophy, curriculum and practice. •Providing an environment which visually acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures and encourages children and educators to further investigate and deepen their own understanding. •Providing a culturally responsive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples can see their identities and cultures reflected in our environment.
•Acknowledge language and appropriately engage with the Boonwurrung language within each learning space and within our Acknowledgement to Country.
