VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is for all families in the Snuggles community to feel respected and culturally safe at our service. We recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we come together to play and learn, the Wurundjeri people. We value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and heritages as a proud part of a shared identity, and we are committed to learning about and understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ true histories and traditions in ways that are respectfully embedded in our everyday practice and curriculum planning. We believe that a reconciled Australia ensures that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures, and perspectives are valued as intrinsic to our national identity, and that quality early education is a pathway to reconciliation. At Snuggles, we will continue to  reflect on and grow be responsive in our practices to ensure that we are respectfully valuing, and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, experiences, and heritages across all curriculum areas. . Our reconciliation journey and learnings also involve building and maintaining the authentic connections  with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, and where appropriate, inviting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples into the Snuggles learning environment. We continuously strive to build an ongoing respectful partnership with, and provide an inclusive, responsive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
