VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Montessori Early Learning Center’s vision for reconciliation includes acknowledging the vast diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures in Australia. . We recognise the continued connection that Traditional Owners have to their Ancestral lands, bodies of water, and cultural traditions across all of Australia. We honour the past, present, and upcoming Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders.

With an active recognition of the diversity and vitality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and ongoing contributions, our vision is for everyone to walk together for mutual respect and understanding. In addition to valuing the contributions First Peoples make to Australian culture and society, we pledge to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' enduring ties to and guardianship over the Land. We respect the perseverance and power of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and are open to the chance to learn from their perspectives and experiences.

We are committed to fostering equality and equity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Australians. Our aim is to design programs, activities and experiences in our setting that will serve families and children with complex needs and aspirations to emphasise the importance of inter-cultural awareness and respect. Through language, stories and culturally responsive resources and activities, we will respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum and service environment, for the benefit of all children and families. We endeavour to develop relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community members and work towards integrating First Peoples’ perspectives into the curriculum and programming where possible.
