At Girrinbai Community Preschool, we endeavour to create a place for all children, families, and staff that upholds the values of respect and connection. A place where our vision is to nurture a culture of reconciliation and foster an understanding of the rich histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We work to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures and perspectives into our curriculum and everyday practices, enabling each child to learn about the values of empathy, respect, and community. Through shared, collaborative relationships with the local Awabakal community, we work to empower children to develop cultural awareness, understanding and respect for First Nations peoples, whereby together we can help build a future where all Australians walk together as one.
