VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

The Uniting Dove Cottage vision for reconciliation is to acknowledge, respect and develop awareness and an understanding of Australia’s First Nations peoples’ histories and cultures in order to meaningfully embed it into our curriculum. We seek partnership with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples so they have governance over how we educate children on First Nations peoples historical and contemporary realities We aspire to create a safe place for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander children, families, staff and communities through increasing our understanding and the cultural competencies of our staff, families, children and the wider community Through committing to our Reconciliation Action Plan our objective is to improve educational outcomes and develop increased opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders within the community.  We are committed to taking practical steps and actions to create connections and build positive, meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. . We empower our educators, families, children and community to have strong values and be an ally of First Nations peoples as they return to a place of equity, equality, dignity and respect  Following Reconciliations Australia's well-established themes of relationships, respect and opportunities which align with Uniting’s purpose, pillars and values of inspiring people, enlivening communities and confronting injustices together we can make a change.
