Our vision for reconciliation at CASS Family Day Care is to acknowledge and respect the cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the Wangal Nation and Australia more broadly. We are embracing a national culture that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared history and removal of negative race relations. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
As educators we aspire to do this by fostering a learning space for our community to take part in developing an understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, histories and perspectives. Our Family Day Care has a deep and ongoing respect for Aboriginal heritage and respects identified Aboriginal sacred sites and special places.
