At Hinchinbrook Early Education and Care Centre, our philosophy values cultural responsiveness and respect for all people including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Owners and First Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge the Darug people as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Land Hinchinbrook Early Education and Care Centre stands on. We recognise the unique cultural rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
We believe in the crucial role early childhood education plays in supporting reconciliation. It is our commitment to respectfully build our knowledge and relationships within the community to support our children and families. We recognise Australia’s true history and foster an understanding of the shared future of respect, equality, and equity for all Australians. We are dedicated to reconciliation between non-Indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Hinchinbrook Early Education and Care Centre continues to be committed building respectful community partnerships. We believe in the importance and value of respectful and reciprocal relationships within our community between First Nations peoples and non-Indigenous people. We continue to work together in partnership with children, educators, families, and our community to build knowledge and grow a deeper understanding together as we embark on our reconciliation journey.
This vision statement for reconciliation is a living document that will grow and change over time reflecting our commitment and developing knowledge of reconciliation. By establishing a better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, we create an enriching appreciation of Australia's cultural heritage and move towards the maturity of Australia as a nation. This will lead to the development of an Australian identity based on mutual respect and trust and support reconciliation.
