At Kinross Primary School our vision for reconciliation is to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are treated equitably, with inclusiveness and respect. We are committed to respectfully develop strong and effective partnerships between the local Noongar peoples and the wider community. These relationships will be based on mutual respect, understanding, knowledge and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, heritages and cultures. We will feel a sense of pride in knowing we are doing our part to make reconciliation a reality in Australia. We aim to improving race relations by increasing students, staff and families opportunities to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and perspective, especially of the Noongar community. We believe, this will continue to foster knowledge, understanding, acceptance and respect. We will continue to work with the Noongar community to educate our school community through the use of the Aboriginal Curriculum. A. Kinross PS will be an inclusive school environment where all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families have equal and equitable opportunities within our learning community. Our school aims actively demonstrate our work towards our reconciliation goals We will educate our school community about the negative effects of colonisation, racism and exclusion to deepen our understanding the injustice and inequities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as, the strengths and resilience shown by First Nations peoples in the face of discrimination. This will lead towards historical acceptance and ensure past mistakes are not repeated.
