Canberra High School is a diverse community of independent learners who are equipped with the skills and attitudes to become confident, creative and active citizens. Our school is committed to honouring our part in the journey to reconciliation within Australia. Our vision is to nurture a vibrant and connected school community that is inclusive of everyone, while specifically acknowledging the significant contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures have within our school community. We work closely with stakeholders, partners and the local First Nations community to ensure there is a thoughtful and genuine commitment to reconciliation within the school environment, curriculum and teaching practices. To assist us in understanding what a truly reconciled community looks like, we commit to having a universal model of understanding the strengths, cultures and histories of the thousands of years of continuing presence and contributions of Australia’s First Peoples. We have a responsibility not just to our students but all the members of our community to grow this understanding both locally and as part of the wider region. Building a reconciled community and country means we take collective responsibility for the past, honour those in our community and plan for a positive future for all.
