At Goodstart Early Learning Kedron, we believe reconciliation is about bringing everyone together as one on even ground, with mutual respect and understanding. We acknowledge the ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in particular to the education of young children, and recognise the longstanding and continuing place and significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, pedagogies and perspectives since long before our early learning service’s story began. Our vision is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are actively recognised as the First Nations peoples of Australia; where all Australians embrace Elders past, present and future for the wisdom and knowledge they hold and share; and where emerging leaders in local communities are supported. Reconciliation, for us, is living in harmony and working together to create an even better place to live, with respectful and inclusive race relations. At our centre, we will continue to respect and celebrate everyone's cultural heritage and promote reconciliation by actively introducing children to diverse learning experiences, ensuring we are inclusive of all cultures, including the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
We are committed to continuing to strengthen our relationships with the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our centre stands, the Yuggera People, alongside members of our local community and around the county, such as Elders, educators, children and families, and diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By developing a deeper understanding of our roles in reconciliation, and actively passing this understanding on to our children, then we will be able to visibly see our centre working together for a bright future that is free of racism. .
