VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Toun-nun Child & Family Centre, our vision for reconciliation is one of warmth, respect, and unity, reflecting the meaning of Toun-nun Which means warm in the Boon Wurrung language, we come together with warmth, respect, and shared purpose.

We are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories, and perspectives are respectfully recognised, celebrated, and woven through all aspects of our learning and practice.

We acknowledge the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, culture, and community. We also extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who walk through our doors.

Reconciliation at Toun-nun means listening, learning, and walking together; children, families, educators, and community members on a journey of truth-telling, equity, and healing. It motivates us to build strong, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and to ensure that all children grow up with pride in First Nations cultures and a strong sense of shared responsibility for creating a more just and reconciled future.

Together, we are planting the seeds of understanding and compassion in every child so they may grow to become respectful, informed, and connected members of a reconciled Australia.
