VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At SCECS Carnes Hill OSHC, we are committed to fostering an environment that celebrates cultural diversity, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) underscores our responsibility to build respectful and meaningful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are diverse, rich, and complex, with deep histories. Acknowledging this cultural depth is crucial to forming strong partnerships that promote equality, understanding, and inclusivity. As an educational and care provider, we are dedicated to integrating this understanding into our practices and interactions with children, families, and the wider community.

Our RAP guides staff and partners in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities respectfully. We seek to foster open communication, deepen cultural understanding, and honour local traditions by respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, perspectives and cultures into our curriculum, activities, and daily operations.

By providing authentic learning opportunities, supporting family connections, and empowering staff to deepen their knowledge of First Nations cultures, we aim to create a more inclusive and connected environment for all members of our school community. Through ongoing reconciliation and cultural competency, we ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives are continually honoured in all aspects of our service.
