Our vision for reconciliation at Carnes Hill Montessori Academy is to enrich, enlighten and to further educate all children, families and educators within the centre on an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ways of life within our education program. We value diversity within our service and would like educators to explore ways to respectfully implement diverse cultural learning experiences in all aspects of their day and further explore ways they could extend children’s interests in learning about and taking action towards reconciliation. We will continue to value diversity, honour and celebrate differences to develop knowledge and positive attitudes towards all walks of life including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. For these reasons, we hope to further provide and plan experiences that broaden children’s, families and educators’ perspectives and encourage them to participate in our reconciliation journey whenever possible. We aim to ensure that knowledge of the experiences and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is respectfully incorporated into our teaching and learning with our children, families and educators.
