Choklits Croydon's vision for reconciliation acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, both past and present, as the Traditional Custodians of the Lands across Australia where we learn, work and play.
Our vision for reconciliation at Choklits Croydon is to be consistently recognising and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, perspectives and cultures across our curriculum and educational setting. Choklits Croydon aims to open up a variety of opportunities for children, educators, families and the community to respectfully engage with, celebrate and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and continue the journey to reconciliation.
To us at Choklits Croydon, reconciliation is about connecting and recognising the rich cultural heritages and celebrating the continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We will respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' voices into our curriculum, ensuring we are catalysts for change.
It is through research and critical reflection, conversation, professional development and learning experiences that we as a service can come together to create an atmosphere which actively represents the importance of reconciliation. Through this we aim to further connect with the First Peoples of the Land and develop respectful relationships by creating meaningful opportunities to learn more about the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe that our community should learn more about Australia's history, learning about the Traditional Owners of the Land. We aim to have discussions around the colonisation, admitting that we have made mistakes in the past but also learning from those mistakes to ensure that we move forward together respectfully. We will actively engage in activism, encouraging even the youngest citizens that we educate as well.
