At Milestones Gulliver, we are united and committed to the ongoing journey of reconciliation. As part of this journey, we acknowledge past and ongoing wrongs and commemorate events to ensure everyone has a deeper understanding of Australia’s histories and the First Nations peoples of Australia.
This understanding enriches all staff, families and children's ability to participate positively in the ongoing journey of reconciliation. Reconciliation also means that we celebrate the present and the future through creating awareness and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures. By doing this, we enable our childcare centre to develop respect for cultural diversity, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
We aim to provide children with a knowledgeable understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories and pass on a positive and inclusive message that supports reconciliation for future generations. We aim to celebrate days of national significance, embracing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the curriculum to provide meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and staff as we embed this into our routines, environments, and programs.
We will continue working together to establish and configure spaces to encourage responsible, respectful, and honest interactions between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the service, to build trusting relationships with First Nations community members and draw on positive relationships within local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and build upon them so that reconciliation is alive and strong in our whole community.
