VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Milestones Middleswan we recognise the strong cultural history of the Whadjuk Noongar people and their important connection to the Land that our centre is situated on.   Reconciliation to our Educators means reflecting on our current knowledge of pre-colonial and post-colonial Australia and the continuing effects that Australia's history has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.   We will reflect on our preconceived perspectives and provide opportunities for educators, children, families and the wider community to deepen their understandings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.    We will build meaningful relationships and respectfully consult with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to ensure that we use authentic resources sourced from the local community.   We understand that reconciliation is a journey to be taken together with the Whadjuk Noongar community and foresee invaluable learning and relationship developing to support a unified approach to reconciliation.
