Our vision for reconciliation is to be brave and make change by driving an ongoing culturally safe and inclusive space, for both our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non- Indigenous people, staff, students, families, and community. To collectively work together to educate, acknowledge and bridge the gap of equity and equality for our current and future generations. We are committed to growth, through culturally safe, inclusive, and immersive learning, empowering all staff, students, families and community members to speak up, take action and feel proud to be a part of such a supportive and connected college community. We have an opportunity as a college to ensure our staff and students embrace unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Aboriginal people, in a community that represents equality and equity. By teaching Australia’s true history throughout our curriculum and school events we can provide an inclusive and diverse college for all to be recognised, feel safe and understood.
We have a responsibility as a college, to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families, and community members in closing the gap in equity and equality, which includes providing a culturally safe environment, engaging education, opportunities, and support beyond the classroom. We will show accountability through authentic and genuine relationships, conversations, and greater connections to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, their cultures and with Country, by actively listening to enhance our understanding and education.
SEDA College WA is committed to walk side by side with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and continue to educate, learn and grow together, along our journey for reconciliation and a stronger future.
