We at Only About Children (Oac) Balwyn North have a shared vision of unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. We strive to create and maintain unity between Oac Balwyn North and the Traditional Owners through respectful, deep and ongoing conversations, consultations and collaborations. We acknowledge and respect the rich histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In the context of our campus we respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri People as the Custodians of the Land on which Oac Balwyn North resides. Through our curriculum, teaching and daily practices we respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives deeply and thoughtfully at the campus, in a way that builds respect and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritages and cultures, recognising the importance of connection to Land, Water and community. We continue to promote diversity, inclusion, advocacy for the rights of First Nations children and justice. Wecontinue to grow in cultural responsiveness, educating not only ourselves, but also the children and families within our community; as this is an ongoing process.
We continue to ensure that OAC Balwyn North remains a safe premise at all times for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise and respect the healing process of the Original Custodians who have experienced inequality, inequity and injustice on their own Land since colonisation, and also recognise the continued strength and resilience of First Peoples and cultures.
